SWALES

The yard of your home has been rough graded so that water will drain around each side of the house. If these "drainage swales" are filled in or blocked by soil, sidewalks or walls, proper drainage may be obstructed. Remember to maintain the swales. If you hire a masonry contractor to build walls, make sure he does not obstruct the swales.
