The community has been instrumental in formulating the vision for Koa Ridge and assisting with development of the Master Plan. The group included a cross section of residents, community leaders, business people, educators, and representavies of local boards and agencies.

In 2003, a community visioning group was assembled, bringing fresh ideas and ensuring that the vision for Koa Ridge is in tune with the current needs and desires of Hawaii residents. This community visioning group has met regularly, providing input on desired community amenities, land uses patterns, development issues and constraints, and sustainability features they would like to see incorporated in Koa Ridge. The community visioning process is an ongoing effort.
